The Duffers & Bluffers Golf & Poker tournament began in 2005 at venerable Birch Hills Golf Course in Brea, CA when 12 "golfers" got together to celebrate a birthday with a round of golf followed by a garage poker tournament. The early days of the tournament featured 2 man teams playing 6 holes each of scramble, best-ball, and alternate shot. The following year, a few more "golfers" joined the fold, and a tradition was born when the first official tournament swag was produced.

In 2007 and 2008, the fledgling event solidified its spot on the annual calendar as the venue changed to patchy fairways and bumpy greens of Fullerton Golf Course. Along with a change in venue, the format also evolved to foursome scramble with a champion being crowned while the last place finishers received the infamous "horses ass" trophy.

In celebration of the 5th annual event, the now established tournament put down roots at its current home, the Westin Mission Hills resort in Rancho Mirage, CA. Since 2009, this 36 hole facility in the heart of the Coachella Valley has hosted a Ryder Cup style match featuring 2 days of 2-man scramble match play between team Duffer and team Bluffer.
